#Notoplastic

“About one trillion single-use plastic bags are used annually across the globe. That’s nearly 2 million every minute.” -
Do you ever stop and think about where all plastic waste actually goes? Only 9% is being recycled, and at least 8 million tons of it ends up in the ocean - each year. At this rate, it's estimated that there will be more plastic than fish in the sea by the year 2050.
Plastic doesn’t go away - instead, most of it degrades into smaller pieces (microplastics) and often ends up being ingested by marine life. 700 marine species are being exposed to plastic and more than 50 species of fish are known to eat it. (For those of you who eat sea food, where would you guess the plastic ends up? In your stomach). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can easily #takeaction by simply reducing your plastic usage and waste – especially single use plastic. Saying no to plastic bags, coffee mugs, plastic bottles, straws etc, and using sustainable alternatives is a great way to start living more responsibly.
